Toby Alderweireld gives insight into Mauricio Pochettino's philosophy at Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino has led Tottenham Hotspur into third place in the Premier League table this season.

Toby Alderweireld has told the London Evening Standard that anybody not prepared to buy into Mauricio Pochettino’s philosophy will be forced to leave Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Southampton boss demands a high-pressing approach, which requires his players to have extreme levels of physical fitness.

And Alderweireld claims that any Spurs player who is not on board with Pochettino’s approach will have to depart White Hart Lane.

“He only puts in guys who work very hard," Alderweireld said.

"A lot of guys have left the club. If you don't follow the path you don't belong in Tottenham.

"The most important thing is we have no heroes in this team. When one makes a mistake the other one picks it up.

"We have a togetherness. We want to achieve something this season and I think you can see that on the pitch.”

Pochettino has been ruthless to create his current Spurs squad, with the likes of Andros Townsend, Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor all being offloaded in recent times.

The Argentine’s impact at Spurs has been huge, and his side have been one of the most formidable teams in the Premier League this season.

Tottenham have lost just three league matches, and they have put themselves into title contention.

At the moment, Spurs are just five points behind top of the table Leicester City, and they are also progressing well in the Europa League and the FA Cup.

The Lilywhites' next fixture comes on Saturday against Watford at White Hart Lane.
