Rotherham's Neil Redfearn speaks highly of Tottenham loanee Grant Ward once again

Rotherham United's Neil Redfearn is delighted to have Tottenham's Grant Ward until the end of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Grant Ward had a big day on transfer deadline day, even if his movements remained under the radar of many.

20-year-old Ward has been on loan at Rotherham United, quietly impressing, but his loan deal had been set to expire.

The central midfielder confirmed via his Twitter account that the Millers had extended his loan deal until the end of the season, while at the same time he had signed a contract extension with Tottenham, with the Premier League side clearly encouraged by his progress.

Rotherham United manager Neil Redfearn is delighted to have Ward secured for the rest of the campaign, and spoke glowingly at his press conference about him on Thursday.

Quoted on the club's live twitter feed, Redfearn said: "Grant has been a real feature of the good stuff we've been doing. That was good business for us. He's come on leaps and bounds.

"People were taking an interest in him because of his exposure in our first team. We've said what we said we'd do with him. He's a top young player and is one of a host of players who is getting better and better.

"I would think Spurs look at Grant and think he's a major asset. He's playing at a high standard at an early age."

Redfearn, who was appointed mid-season, has a well earned reputation for developing young players from his work at Leeds United, and Ward has fallen into good hands.

He is keen to highlight the good work Rotherham have done with him, evidently hoping for more loan deals from Premier League sides, and even Spurs.
