Both sides remain in contention for a play-off spot in the Championship.
Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett is among the nominees for the Championship Manager of the Month award for January, while Blues midfielder Maikel Kieftenbeld and Sheffield Wednesday striker Gary Hooper have been shortlisted for the players' award, Sky Sports reports.
Rowett will have to see off competition from Nottingham Forest's Dougie Freedman, Hull boss Steve Bruce and Burnley's Sean Dyche, while the Tigers and the Clarets also have contenders in the running for Player of the Month, with Abel Hernandez and Ben Mee up against Hooper and Kieftenbeld (via Sky Sports).
Despite losing Demarai Gray during the month - as the winger moved on to Leicester - Birmingham went through January unbeaten, and collected hugely impressive 3-0 wins against Derby and Ipswich, both of whom are well in contention for promotion this season.
Kieftenbeld was instrumental to the Blues' form. The midfielder scored three goals during the month, including a goal in both of their emphatic victories to help the side finish January inside the play-off places.
Similarly, Wednesday finished the month well in the play-off mix, and that was largely down to Hooper's form. The striker - who completed a permanent switch to Hillsborough after a successful loan spell - scored five times during the month, including braces against both Bolton and Leeds.
The winners of the respective awards will be announced on Friday (via Sky Sports).
