The Arsenal legend has high hopes for Tottenham's season.
The terrific form of the likes of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen; the brilliance of new signings Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli and the improvement of previously criticised stars Danny Rose, Mousa Dembele and Erik Lamela has seen Tottenham shake off their inconsistent tag and push toward the Premier League zenith.
But they are playing on three fronts. Spurs are in the FA Cup and Europa League still and have ambitions of going all the way in both - the club want silverware.
Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has been talking about their chances in the rest of the season. He clearly has his reservations but the former Arsenal man seems to think it is possible.
He wrote in his Daily Mail column earlier today:
"Tottenham have done so well to get here but it’s possible some of these players may never have this chance again. It’s new territory and they have to take the chance because it might be the pinnacle. You never know what opportunities like this might come around again.
"That’s when it comes down to the manager to negotiate them through. It may be that in order to focus on the league he has to sacrifice one competition. But the way they beat Leicester after a replay in the FA Cup showed a great deal of squad depth.
"I remember saying earlier in the season that I wouldn’t discount Spurs. I’ve always felt they’ve had a soft centre but they have been defensively solid and excellent going forward. It will be interesting to see how they get on now because they have a fantastic opportunity."
Tottenham are in fantastic form at the moment and are also showing a level of consistency that is not synonymous with the club.
If they can keep that up then they should certainly come away with at least one piece of silverware this season.
