Although N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez have both had hugely impressive campaigns for the Foxes, Keown believes that Vardy has been the pick of the bunch.
And the former Arsenal defender says that Vardy’s wonder goal in Leicester’s 2-0 win over Liverpool shows just how confident the striker is at the moment.
"If Leicester have the fairytale ending that so many people want, then Vardy’s goal would be a fitting effort to cap the story. It was a phenomenal strike," Keown said.
"Vardy has been Leicester’s player of the season, if not the Premier League’s best player. That strike showed he had it all and it typified Leicester’s season. It shows they have the confidence and the ability to try anything."
Vardy’s volley against Liverpool was simply sensational, and it set Claudio Ranieri’s side on their way to another important win.
Before the England international took aim from 25 yards, Leicester and Liverpool had looked evenly matched - but Ranieri’s men ended up taking the game by the scruff of the neck to claim the three points.
The victory has maintained Leicester’s three point lead at the top of the Premier League table, with the side now on the verge of pulling off one of the biggest shocks in English football history.
Leicester’s next match comes against their nearest rivals in Manchester City, and if the Foxes are able to win at the Etihad Stadium, they will take a big step towards finishing at the top of the Premier League pile.
