Lloyd Blankfein gives update on cancer battle

Lloyd Blankfein

Lloyd Blankfein said he is winning his battle with cancer.

The New York Post reports that the Goldman Sachs boss told CNBC in an interview on Wednesday that he is 'probably cured' of lymphoma after undergoing '600 hours' of chemo treatments.

Blankfein, 61, revealed in September that he was undergoing cancer treatment, making him the second major bank CEO in the last two years to have publicly battled the disease while staying in his position. JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon was successfully treated for throat cancer in 2014.

'My doctor said in advance of it, ‘You’ll be about 80% and that’s what it was', said Blankfein, who appeared bald and without his usual beard. 'I was able to go to work, function, while I was there. Every three-week cycle, [I] spent four and a half or five days in the hospital. That’s it. I didn’t travel'.
