Dynamo Kiev star Andriy Yarmolenko has been quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying that he would prefer a move to Everton over Barcelona.
Yarmolenko, 26, has become a star at Dynamo Kiev over the years, hitting 108 goals in just 282 games despite primarily playing as a winger.
The Ukrainian has also scored 22 times in 55 appearances for the national team, proving his worth as a goalscoring winger by consistently finding the back of the net.
Unsurprisingly, speculation has surrounded Yarmolenko's future, especially since Ukraine's other star wide man, Yevhen Konoplyanka, joined Sevilla from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk last summer.
The Daily Star recently reported that Everton and Barcelona were looking to sign Yarmolenko, in a £15m transfer battle between two clubs with differing aspirations.
Everton are looking for qualification into the Europa League this season, where as last season's Champions League winners Barcelona are looking to retain their crown as the world's best team.
Now though, Yarmolenko has been discussing his future, and has told Ukrainian media, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo, that he would actually prefer a move to Everton over Barcelona because he would be more likely to play first-team football on a regular basis.
"It is better to play at Everton," said Yarmolenko. "Of course you can go to Barcelona, make a cool selfie with (Lionel) Messi, put the images on Instagram and get a million likes and be pleased with yourself. But I'm not one of those. For me it is important to play matches. If I do not play twice a week, I have nowhere to throw out the emotions and energy. My family will go mad. If I play, the next day I am all calm and smile. If I missed the game and lay in the house, I immediately run into a quarrel," he added.
