Alan Pardew names two underused Crystal Palace players who will be handed their chance

Jordon Mutch and Lee Chung-Yong could both be handed starts for Crystal Palace in the coming weeks, after an injury crisis.

Alan Pardew has confirmed at his press conference this afternoon that both Jordon Mutch and Lee Chung-Yong are in contention for places at Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are currently without a host of first team players, with James McArthur and Jason Puncheon the latest to pick up injuries.

And Pardew has suggested that Mutch and Chung-Yong will now be handed the chance to impress in Palace’s starting line-up.

Mutch has started just six Premier League matches for Palace since signing from Queens Park Rangers in January back in January 2015.

The attacking midfielder has struggled to make much of an impression at Selhurst Park, but he could come in to replace Puncheon.

Chung-Yong, meanwhile, has also had limited opportunities at Palace, and he has failed to nail down his position in the starting line-up, when given a rare chance.

The South Korean international did score a belting winner against Stoke City earlier in the season, and that strike remains the best moment of his time with Pardew’s side.

Palace’s next match comes against Swansea City on Saturday, where they will be looking to end a run of five consecutive league defeats.
