Report: Josh Onomah set to sign long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur

Josh Onomah is set to tie his long-term future down to Tottenham Hotspur.

Josh Onomah is close to agreeing a new contract with Spurs, the Mirror reports.

The 18-year-old midfielder is thought of highly by head coach Mauricio Pochettino, and the report indicates he is set to agree a new deal until the summer of 2020.

Onomah only signed a four-year contract last summer, but Pochettino has been so impressed by his development that he wants to secure the youngster’s long-term future.

Onomah has played 13 games in all competitions this season, starting one game in both the Europa League and FA Cup. He has spent much of the Premier League campaign being used as a rotational squad member, making frequent substitute appearances to aid his development.

The report states that Pochettino wants to push ahead with Onomah’s senior career, and has plans to fast-track Onomah into the first-team set-up over the course of this season.

Pochettino is building a youthful team at White Hart Lane, and he is said to see Onomah as a big part of that future.
