The duo have been impressive at the heart of Arsenal's defence this season.
The duo have been regulars alongside each other in the heart of the Arsenal defence this season and have built an impressive partnership as a result.
They have only conceded 22 goals in 24 games so far, the third lowest tally in the Premier League, with only Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United having conceded fewer.
And Koscielny says that their constant communication has been key to that fine defensive record.
“We have a good relationship on the pitch and off it, too,” he told arsenal.com.
“We talk a lot and we’ve learnt a lot together over the last few years. I know his qualities and he knows mine, so I know what he can and can’t do on the pitch. That’s important for centre backs.”
“Each player is very important at centre back and it’s very important that they communicate for their positioning on the pitch. We can definitely help each other improve.”
Manager Arsene Wenger will now be hoping they can maintain that defensive record in the second half of the campaign.
The Gunners are more than capable of scoring goals with the talent they have at their disposal, meaning a solid defence gives them every chance of winning even the tougher games.
Those kind of wins, or even draws, can prove crucial to a team chasing the title, when every point is a vital one, and the Gunners will be keen to maintain the impressive defensive record they have enjoyed so far.
