Kevin Wimmer has been used sparingly by Tottenham Hotspur this season, and he has only just made his first Premier League start.
The 23-year-old centre-back has had to compete with the exceptional form of Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld, and his chances have so far only come in competitions other than the Premier League.
He made his first appearance in the league in the last game against Crystal Palace, coming on as a substitute when Vertonghen went off injured, and started his first game against Norwich in place of the still out-of-action Belgian.
There were doubts heading into the game as to whether Wimmer could step up to emulate Vertonghen, especially given how well he has been playing this season.
However, doubts were allayed at the end of a convincing 3-0 victory over Norwich, with Dele Alli and Harry Kane netting for the title contenders.
Wimmer was solid in defence, proving he can step up to the first-team when needed.

The Austrian international won two interceptions, completed five clearances and won two aerial duels. He did not win a single tackle, but due to his style of play which involves reading the game, he was more effective stepping out of defence to win the ball.
Wimmer arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer with an exciting reputation, and he unfortunately has been given few chances to impress.
However, Vertonghen’s injury has come at the perfect time for Wimmer, and he looks capable of aiding Spurs in their fight for the league title in the final months of the season.
