Aston Villa were beaten 2-0 by West Ham United at Upton Park yesterday.
Gabriel Agbonlahor failed to impress Aston Villa supporters with his performance against West Ham United last night.
After being handed a rare start by Remi Garde, Agbonlahor had plenty of motivation to try and force his way back into starting contention.
However, the 29-year-old was virtually ineffectual in his striking role - and he barely posed any problems to the West Ham defence.
Although Agbonlahor is far from match sharp, his performance yesterday did little to suggest that he is worthy of earning more first-team football.
Agbonlahor looked off the pace throughout the contest, and even his usual speed wasn’t on display.
The forward was easily marked out of the game, but his task was made harder by Jordan Ayew’s indiscipline.
Ayew was sent off early on in the contest, for inexplicably elbowing Aaron Cresswell in an off-the-ball incident.
Agbonlahor was then made to plow a lone furrow up-front, but even though he was isolated - Villa fans have not been sympathetic with the striker. Here is the best reaction on Twitter.
Every time Gabby Agbonlahor leaves the pitch, I assume it's for the last time. It never seems to be though. #avfc— Joseph Reed (@josephsreed) February 2, 2016

315 in his career so far and he's the worst he's been...
Agbonlahor used to have pace - that dog who goes round on the advertising hoarding has more pace.— JS Pritchard (@Jonaldo14) February 2, 2016
Nothing more annoying than seeing a perpetual under achiever like Agbonlahor given a 4 year deal and in team cos board won't spend #avfc— Keith (@keithvillan) February 2, 2016
Agbonlahor's last good performance must have been in like 2010— Ian Saunders-Tindall (@IanST45) February 2, 2016
Can anyone advise if Agbonlahor touched the ball this evening???— Craig Dick (@Skipper_7) February 2, 2016
Scott Sinclair must have done something to really annoy Remi garde off if he can't get in the team over agbonlahor #avfc— Ben Johnson (@benjohnson111) February 2, 2016
Agbonlahor. The most overrated footballer in the whole of English football......— Jeremy Fretter (@Blackrat173354) February 2, 2016
