Sheffield Wednesday confirmed on their official website on Monday that left back Rhoys Wiggins has left the club for a return to Bournemouth.
Wiggins, 28, only joined Wednesday last summer, having impressed with Championship rivals Charlton Athletic - but his move to Hillsborough has become something of a nightmare.
The Welsh defender has only started five Championship games, as he has struggled to displace Daniel Pudil as the Owls' first choice left back.
Now though, Wiggins has earned a shock move to the Premier League, joining Bournemouth for the fourth time in his career, after two loan spells and a permanent stint previously.
The deal doesn't look great for Wednesday; after spending £750,000 on the player in the summer, according to the Sheffield Star, the Bournemouth Daily Echo claim that Wiggins has cost Bournemouth just £200,000, meaning Wednesday have lost over £500,000 on him in six months.
After the deal was confirmed, a host of Wednesday fans took to Twitter to admit they were stunned to see Wiggins move to the top flight having struggled so much at Hillsborough, and questioned Eddie Howe's decision to re-sign him yet again.
Others believed that Wiggins isn't as bad as people think and just isn't as good as first choice Pudil, and wished him the best of luck in the Premier League.
Here are some of the reactions from Wednesday fans after Wiggins' move back to Bournemouth...
Wiggins to Bourenmouth is bizarre, shocking player for us #swfc— Rob (@Robtheowl95) February 1, 2016
Honestly don't blame Rhoys Wiggins for wanting to leave. Yes, he wasn't the best but did not deserve that abuse. Good luck to him! #swfc— Joe Kneale (@JoeK582) February 1, 2016
People going on that Wiggins was the worst player ever. He isn't. Many FL clubs would like him in their team. Pudil just better. #swfc— Andy Parsons (@andypars) February 1, 2016
If you’d told me a few days ago that we’d lose one of our players to a PL team, pretty much last on the list would have been Wiggins #swfc— KM (@KAM1974) February 1, 2016
Shame it didn't work out for Wiggins, don't think he is anywhere near as bad as some on here make out. #swfc— Tom Taylor-Batty (@TomTB1995) February 1, 2016
Massive fan of Eddie Howe, but I am desperate to know what he has seen in Wiggins. Nowhere near good enough for us. Good luck to him. #SWFC— Stevie Spence (@Spendogg) February 1, 2016
