Kazim-Richards linked up Celtic yesterday on a two-and-a-half year deal, and Ronny Deila has revealed to the Bhoys website what the Turkish forward told him prior to signing for the club.
Deila said: “Colin is an experienced player who has qualities and can be a leader in the group. I talked a lot with him and he’s motivated to play for Celtic. He’s going to be a very good signing.”
Karim-Richards confirmed to Deila that he has the motivation to play for Celtic, a necessary trait given how his season has progressed.
He was outcast from the squad at Feyenoord by Gio van Bronckhorst for getting into a conflict with a journalist, and sought to move when it became apparent that he would not feature again this season.
Due to his issues at Feyenoord, Kazim-Richards attitude has come under question, and Deila made sure to assess the player before completing his signing.
He held talks with the 29-year-old Turk to ensure he would be up for playing at Parkhead, and Deila was clearly impressed by the striker.
A deal has been struck to bring Kazim-Richards to Celtic, and he will be hoping to rebuild his reputation whilst turning out at Parkhead.
