Deila said: “Nadir was very keen to get out and play consistently. He’s a young player and we felt it was a good idea and he will be back again in the summer. Players come from smaller clubs and they come in here and it’s a tough environment. To give people chances here is tough as they need to perform and we need to win all the time.”
Ciftci left Celtic on deadline day to join Turkish side Eskisehirspor on loan, agreeing a deal until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old striker has not had the impact at Parkhead that many suspected he would, when he arrived at the club from Dundee United over the summer.
The former Turkish youth international was one of the best goalscorers in the Sottish Premiership before linking up with the Bhoys, but he has had few chances to prove himself.
Leigh Griffiths has kept him out of the side due to his fantastic form in front of goal, leaving Ciftci to play just 22 times in all competitions - starting only five league games.
The young forward has left Parkhead until the end of the season, but Deila made sure to confirm that Ciftci’s future still lies with Celtic.
The head boss confirmed that Ciftci will return to the Hoops in the summer, when he will be looking to fight for a place back in the Celtic first-team.
