According to The Telegraph, Arsenal are scouting Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender, Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho and Southampton's Victor Wanyama as they pursue a summer deal for a new midfielder.
The Gunners were quiet during the January transfer window, with midfielder Mohamed Elneny arriving from Basel as their only new signing.
Fans were somewhat disappointed to see Arsene Wenger made just one new addition, but it seems that the Gunners may instead look to splash the cash this summer.
With the new Premier League TV deal coming into effect this summer, teams will have more money to spend - and Arsenal are allegedly keen to spend it on a new face in midfield.
The Telegraph report that Arsenal are scouting three top midfielders with a view to making a move in the summer, with Bayer Leverkusen's Lars Bender, Sporting Lisbon's William Carvalho and Southampton's Victor Wanyama all on Wenger's wish list.
Bender, 26, has impressed in the Bundesliga as a versatile central midfielder, whilst Carvalho and Wanyama are both physically dominant holding midfielders who can bully opposition players in front of the back four, with the Gunners coming up against the latter in tonight's Premier League clash with Southampton at the Emirates Stadium.
With Mathieu Flamini and Mikel Arteta out of contract at the end of the season, Arsenal still need a midfielder, given that they were left short in the middle of the park after injuries to Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla earlier this season - and either Bender, Carvalho or Wanyama could fit the bill.
Who should Arsenal sign to boost their midfield?
