People News: Citigroup, RBC, BNP Paribas

Citigroup named Elissar Farah Antonios as CEO officer for the United Arab Emirates as the bank seeks to expand in the Persian Gulf region.

Bloomberg News reports that Antonios, who joined the U.S. bank in 2005, was most recently the head of the Lebanon office, Citigroup said in a statement Monday. In her new role, she will report to Atiq Rehman, head of the bank’s Middle East and Africa region.

In the meantime, Bloomberg also reports that Royal Bank of Canada hired BNP Paribas’s Raffaele Prencipe as head of financials trading for its capital-markets operations in London.

Prencipe, 30, will focus on building RBC Capital Markets’ financials trading offerings as the firm develops its European credit business, the Toronto-based lender said Monday in an internal memo. Prencipe, who spent six years as a credit flow trader at BNP Paribas, will report to James Chapman, head of European credit trading.

Royal Bank also hired Duncan Lake as a high-yield strategist for its European credit sector strategy team.
