Paul Merson urges Claudio Ranieri to start talking about Leicester's title chances

Leicester City are currently on top of the Premier League table after 23 matches have been played.

Paul Merson has told Sky Sports Soccer Saturday, which was broadcast on 30 January, that Claudio Ranieri should be in the Leicester City dressing room telling his players that they can win the title.

Leicester have surpassed all expectations this season, and they currently sit at the top of the Premier League table after 23 matches have been played.

Despite their wonderful performance to date, everyone involved in the Foxes's squad has played down their chances of finishing on top of the pile in public.

Leicester’s players and management staff have insisted that they are not talking about winning the league, but Merson feels that Ranieri should be telling his squad that they are on the verge of making history.

“The manager should be in there making them talk about it [winnnig the title],” Merson said. “This could go down as one of the biggest things ever to happen in football - people could be talking about it in 70, 80 years time.

“The manager should be saying we can win this league. This is once a lifetime.”

Leicester are currently three points clear at the top of the table, with Manchester City and Arsenal their nearest challengers.

The Foxes do have a tough set of fixtures coming up, which should test their title winning credentials.

Ranieri’s men are set to host Liverpool tonight, before they face City and Arsenal over the next two weekends.
