Liverpool signed two players in the January transfer window.
Merson said: “Their business will be done in the summer. I think Jurgen Klopp's come in and thought 'let's get this season out of the way now' and will be thinking 'this is a lot harder than I thought it would be'. I think they'll do more business than anybody in the summer and there'll be more ins and outs at Liverpool than at any other club. I think he's just waiting for next season. You can't really give them a mark because they haven't done anything, so it's just a D.”
Liverpool signed two players in January, bringing one in permanently and one in on loan.
Marko Grujic was signed fro Red Star Belgrade on a long-term contract, although he was immediately shipped back out on loan to the Serbian side.
Grujic is a player for the future who is predicated to have a big future, so it is not a surprise he wasn’t brought in to have an impact this season.
The other deal was a short-term loan for Steven Caulker, who left his loan with Southampton to link up with the Reds from QPR.
It was a shock move by Jurgen Klopp, considering Caulker had done little to impress whilst with the Saints, but he has already played four times for Liverpool.
Still, this is a short-term move, and the business is hardly inspiring from Liverpool.
Due to the lack of incomings, Merson believes that Liverpool will be the busiest team in the summer transfer window, as Klopp is finally given free rein to rebuild the Merseyside club in his view.
