Warnock said: “Having not got any transfers in, if they are going down, I think he’s just looking at what’s ahead of himself. I imagine he’ll be looking at a better situation that fighting for his life in the Championship. Especially with the squad they’ve got.”
It is now a case of when, rather than if, Villa get relegated, having failed to strengthen their squad in January.
Garde arrived at Villa Park to lead the club to survival, but his impossible job is nowhere near completion, and the lack of transfer business has suggested that the Midlands side are already preparing for life in the second tier.
However, there are doubts that Garde will remain with the club in the Championship, and Warnock does not believe he will stay at Villa Park for next season.
The Frenchman has no experience of the Championship, and he has done little this season to suggest he can create a winning squad, and Warnock believes that he will look towards greener pastures at the end of the season.
Villa need to work as hard as possible to win promotion back to the Premier League as soon as can be done, but it does not look like Garde will be there to oversee this fight in the Championship.
