The Ivorian is set to play for his new club Sunderland for the first time.
The Ivory Coast international joined the Black Cats from French club Lorient during the January transfer window and he is now tasked with helping Sam Allardyce’s side climb out of the Premier League’s relegation zone.
Sunderland are currently 19th in the table, four points clear of safety with 13 matches remaining, and it does not come much harder than a game against Manchester City.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men travel to the Stadium of Light for a match that will be a real test of Kone’s talent and temperament.
Writing on social media on Tuesday afternoon, Kone said, “Game day! Can’t wait to wear the red and white tonight. Three points could be good for my first game.”
The 27-year-old has already made 20 appearances for Lorient this season and he turned out a total of 139 times for the Ligue 1 club prior to his exit.
