Gary Gardner explains why he was happy on transfer deadline day

Gary Gardner joined Nottingham Forest on loan from Aston Villa last month.

Aston Villa-owned midfielder Gary Gardner claimed on social networking site Twitter on Monday evening that he was happy to have joined Nottingham Forest last month.

The 23-year-old stated that he was glad that the loan move to Forest was sorted way early in the January transfer window instead of on deadline day.

Gardner joined Championship side Forest on loan from Premier League outfit Villa last month.

The former England Under-21 international enjoyed a successful loan spell at the City Ground in the second half of last season, and he will hope to have a similar time this campaign.

The midfielder has featured in three league games for Forest so far this season, creating two chances in the process.

Gardner has a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 50%, and has won six headers and two tackles.

Forest are 11th in the Championship table at the moment with 39 points from 29 matches.
