Everton confirmed on their official website on Monday that they have splashed out £13.5m on Lokomotiv Moscow forward Oumar Niasse.
The Toffees had signed Swiss Under-21 international Shani Tarashaj earlier in the transfer window, but loaned him back Grasshopper Zurich until the end of the season - but Roberto Martinez was still keen to add a new face as deadline day arrived.
With just hours to go, Everton did pull a signing out of the hat, as Senegal international forward Oumar Niasse penned a four-year-deal after signing from Lokomotiv Moscow.
The Toffees confirmed that Niasse, 25, has cost £13.5m, and he has been signed to add some more pace and goals to the Everton attack.
With 19 goals in 42 appearances for Lokomotiv Moscow and four caps for Senegal, Niasse arrives with a strong reputation, and fans took to Twitter to give their views on the deal.
Supporters are keen to see speedy Niasse in action, but are incredibly concerned that he has been signed as a replacement for star striker Romelu Lukaku, who is bound to attract interest in the summer.
Others don't want to see Roberto Martinez shift the forward to play on the left hand side of midfield, but some are keen to see him offer some attacking support for goal machine Lukaku.
Here are some of the reactions from Everton fans on Twitter after the signing of Niasse...
Don't know much about Niasse. He sounds like a hard worker, exactly what we need. Hopefully a replacement for Naismith and not Lukaku #EFC— David John Bignall (@dbignall85) February 1, 2016
Huge fee for Niasse with our budget. Could be a top signing though and hope our scouts are spot on again. #EFC— Kenny Jarvis (@KennyJarvisEFC) February 1, 2016
Naismith and McGeady both out. Niasse will probably replace them both. 12 goals and 10 assists already? Actual support for Lukaku too. #EFC— Terry McAllister (@terrymcallister) February 1, 2016
Hope Niasse turns out to be a decent player for us and can take some of the responsibility off Rom to score all our goals— Dave Williams (@Day_will) February 1, 2016
Would be happy with Niasse,he has to be a stepup from Kone, hopefully someone who can partner Rom so he isnt isolated at times. #ToffeeTweets— Joe | Romelu Lukaku (@JoeDoesDesigns) February 1, 2016
Martinez is about to play niasse at LM just like KONE... Which is why I'm not looking forward to this.— ☭ (@Rxmelu) February 1, 2016
We needed another credible goal threat and more pace, so we've gone out and go that. Looking forward to seeing how Niasse does.— Paul Knight (@paul_knight1878) February 1, 2016
