David Gold reacts to Mark Lawrenson’s latest West Ham United prediction on Twitter

Mark Lawrenson has predicted that West Ham United will beat Aston Villa 2-0 later this evening.

David Gold says that he hopes Mark Lawrenson’s prediction about West Ham United’s result comes true this weekend, as the BBC Sport pundit has predicted them to beat Aston Villa 2-0.

West Ham take on bottom of the table Villa later this evening at Upton Park, as they look to move closer to the top four.

Lawrenson’s predictions have become a bit of a running joke for West Ham fans this season - as he normally suggests that they will lose - but Gold is praying that the former Liverpool defender is correct this evening.

West Ham will be heavy favourites to beat Villa, given the two side’s contrasting seasons so far.

The Hammers have surpassed expectations under Slaven Bilic, and appear in with a great chance of making it into Europe.

As things stand, West Ham sit in sixth place in the Premier League table - six points behind fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Villa, meanwhile, have had a season which has been nothing short of a disaster.

The Claret and Blues have won just two of their first 23 Premier League matches, and they are already 10 points adrift of safety.
