West Ham United will face Aston Villa in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has spoken highly of James Tomkins on social networking site Twitter.

Gold has expressed his admiration at the fact that the 26-year-old defender, who can play as a centre-back or as a right-back, is in the squad for the game against Aston Villa on Tuesday evening despite having had 13 stitches on his forehead.

The Hammers’ co-chairman has also given injury update on other players ahead of the Premier League match at the Boleyn Ground.

West Ham are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 36 points from 23 matches.

The London outfit are just six points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, and there is a chance that they could end up in the Champions League places.

Slaven Bilic’s side will head into the game against Villa on the back of a goalless draw with Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
