Former Premier League midfielder Danny Murphy has told The BBC he predicts Saido Berahino will end up at Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.
Berahino was the subject of interest on deadline day from three teams, Spurs, Newcastle and Stoke City.
The Mail's live transfer feed reported at 7.23pm last night that Newcastle had given up on signing Berahino - and intend to return for him in the summer.
Danny Murphy believes they will be unsuccessful, expecting the 22-year-old to move to Spurs.
He was quoted on the BBC website at 11.30pm last night stating: "The fact that Saido Berahino hasn't played very much says something to me. Tony Pulis doesn't quite trust him - after all, they're not exactly flush with goals.
"He's probably got his heart set on Tottenham and I think that's where he'll end up."
Murphy, who used to pay for Spurs, may be right. Tottenham will hope to be able to offer Champions League football, while Newcastle United this season are battling to stay afloat.
One thing is for sure, and that is the speculation will continue, possibly right up until the next deadline day.
