Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Clive Allen said on the Call Collymore show on talkSPORT on Saturday evening (January 30) that West Ham United’s season would be successful if they finished in the European places.
Allen also claimed that West Ham are guaranteed of a top-10 finish in the Premier League this campaign.
“If they were to make European football come the end of the season, that would be the most magnificent season as they leave Upturn Park to go into their new stadium,” said former West Ham forward Allen when asked what would be a successful season for the Hammers. “But I think realistically they have a top-10 finish almost certain for me.”
West Ham are sixth in the Premier League table at the moment with 36 points from 23 matches.
The Hammers are just six points behind London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who are currently fourth and occupy the final Champions League spot.
Manager Slaven Bilic has a good squad, but it is probably not strong enough for a top-four finish. A spot in the top six, though, is certainly achievable, and that is what the London outfit should aim for.
West Ham will return to action this evening when they take on Aston Villa at the Boleyn Ground in the Premier League.
