Charlie Austin angered Queens Park Rangers supporters with his message to Leroy Fer on Twitter yesterday evening.
Austin, who left QPR to join Southampton earlier in the January transfer window, appeared to celebrate when Fer’s transfer to Swansea City was announced.
And QPR fans have accused the striker of losing respect for his former club on Twitter.
@ffsMane its not to do with fer leaving it's the fact Charlie has said "yes" as in he's happy we're loosing our best players— ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ (@HoiIett) February 1, 2016
Austin did move to try and clarity his reaction with QPR supporters, but his second tweet meant little to some fans.
I do have his number but I was just congratulating a good friend of mine so can you all relax as there was no disrespect shown— Charlie Austin (@chazaustin9) February 1, 2016
QPR’s followers generally wished Austin well after he completed a move to Southampton.
The 26-year-old was very professional in the way he went about his exit at Loftus Road, but Austin’s message yesterday seems to have soured some supporters’ opinions of him.
Austin has made a good start to life at Southampton, after he scored the winner against Manchester United at Old Trafford on his debut.
