Villa didn't sign anyone on Deadline Day despite sitting bottom of the Premier League.
Aston Villa new chairman & DOF have late night drink after window closes...— Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) February 1, 2016
Rodney Marsh made fun of Aston Villa's transfer business on Twitter after the transfer deadline had passed on Monday night.
Indeed, Villa didn't sign a soul on Deadline Day as Remi Garde was left in the lurch and the club adopted an approach that suggests they have all but accepted relegation.
Marsh has never resisted the opportunity to aim a jibe at Villa and, being a former Manchester City man, he was particularly vocal when City signed Fabian Delph from the Midlands outfit.
Delph was on the winning side as Man City thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
And the amount of fight they showed on that occasion just about matched the amount shown by the club's hierarchy in the transfer market on Monday.
Is there any hope for Villa when it comes to their battle against relegation? And is there any hope of the Midlands outfit bouncing back if they do go down - considering their lack of strengthening this January?
