The Italian is not set to join Leeds United this transfer deadline day.
It had been reported this morning that Leeds United were interested in bringing in a striker from Italian football.
Tutto Mercato Web reported that the 32-year-old was a potential option for Spurs, who had failed in moves for several domestic based striking options.
They claimed that the club had representatives in discussions with Sassuolo over a potential deal.
Whilst many a Leeds fan might have taken the reported interest with a pinch of salt it would make sense - with Massimo Cellino's links in Italian football.
But any Leeds fans who did get excited about the one-time Italian under-21 international heading to Yorkshire will now be disappointed to hear it won't be happening.
Leeds have been searching hard for a new striker this month. Chris Wood has struggled for consistency this season and is now suffering with a niggling hamstring injury, whilst Mirco Antenucci already has one foot out of the door with his contract expiring in the summer.
