Report: West Ham to rival Crystal Palace in the race to sign QPR goalkeeper Rob Green

Queens Park Rangers are keen to offload Rob Green, with both West Ham United and Crystal Palace interested.

According to a report on Sky Sports’ live transfer blog at 12:47 on 1 February, West Ham United are interested in signing Queens Park Rangers goalkeeper Rob Green.

The Daily Mail have suggested that Green is about to join Crystal Palace, but the Hammers have reportedly rivalled Alan Pardew’s side.

QPR are keen to offload Green as they look to trim their squad and reduce costs.

With Rangers’ promotion hopes looking slim, they have decided that shipping out some of their top earners is key.

Striker Charlie Austin has already left to join Southampton, while Matt Phillips could leave before the close of the transfer window today.

Green is another who could be heading for the exit door, with West Ham allegedly keen to bring him back to Upton Park.

The former England international would be unlikely to earn a starting spot for Slaven Bilic’s side, but he would be brought in to provide cover for Adrian and Darren Randolph.

Green has slipped down the pecking order at QPR, with Alex Smithies appearing to be Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s first choice stopper.
