Report: Watford make enquiry for Loic Remy

Watford are rivalling Leicester, Newcastle and Sunderland for Chelsea’s Loic Remy.

Watford have made an enquiry for Loic Remy, WD Sport reports.

The Chelsea forward is one of the most in-demand players in the Premier League, with a number of clubs hoping to tie him down before the end of the transfer window this evening.

The Hornets are the latest team to enter the race for his signature, with three other teams said to have made approaches for the French international.

The Daily Mail claim Newcastle have opened talks for him, the Mirror report on interest from Leicester City, whilst earlier today the Mirror claimed that Sunderland were leading the race for Remy.

Despite the trio’s interest, Watford are also looking for striking cover, and have made approaches for Remy.

The Hornets want to bring in a back-up for Tro Deeney and Odion Ighalo, but their enquiry was rebuffed by Chelsea who want to loan Remy out.

Watford only wanted to buy the striker permanently, as they already have Nathan Ake on loan from the Blues, with Premier League rules dictating that only one player can be on loan from one other Premier League club.

Their approach has been denied, and the Hornets remain on the look-out for a new striker with just hours to go before the transfer window closes.
