Report: Victor Anichebe rejects chance to move to Derby County

West Brom

West Bromwich Albion striker Victor Anichebe had reportedly been of interest to Derby County.

According to a report in the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog, West Bromwich Albion forward Victor Anichebe has rejected the chance to join Derby County.

The Rams have struggled for form recently, and they have dropped out of the automatic promotion spaces.

As a result, Paul Clement appears to have attempted to make some further additions before the close of the transfer window, but his efforts so far have proven fruitless.

Derby have apparently failed to convince Anichebe to leave the Hawthrons, despite his lack of football.

Anichebe, instead, wants to run down his contract at West Brom and hope that he receives an option to stay in the Premier League in the summer.

Derby have already signed Abdoul Camara, Nick Blackman and Marcus Olsson in January, and they have one of the largest squads in the Championship.

Anichebe has played seven times for the Baggies so far this season, but he has failed to score.
