Sunderland have been chasing Ayew for much of the transfer window so far, but they have failed to complete a deal.
And it seems that the Black Cats have now ended their interest in signing the Ghanian.
Sunderland are still hopeful of signing players before the close of the window (Shields Gazette), but Ayew is no longer one of their targets.
Sam Allardyce has already brought in Dame N’Doye and Wahbi Khazri from Bordeaux in January so far, and his strike force looks much stronger as a result.
Ayew’s stay at Swansea is a major boost to the Welsh side’s chances of retaining their Premier League status, as he has been one of their main attacking threats this season.
Ayew has scored seven goals for the Swans, making him their second top scorer over the campaign so far.
