Report: Stoke City agree £18.2m fee for Gianelli Imbula

The Porto midfielder is set to head to the Premier League.

Gianelli Imbula has been linked with a move to Stoke City all winter and was also keenly monitored by the club in the summer.

It is now being reported that The Potters have managed to agree a fee with Porto over the potential signing of Imbula.

The Times are reporting that Stoke have agreed a fee of £18.2 million for the midfield general and he is now flying to England for talks with the club ahead of potentially securing the player in the coming hours.

The 23-year-old has been linked with plenty of teams in the Premier League in the past but has always ended up elsewhere.

He joined Marseille in 2013 and only signed for Porto in the summer.

The Belgian born French under-21 international has not settled in Portugal however and Mark Hughes seems set to bring him into the club for a club record fee.

Imbula would offer Stoke some extra reinforcements in the defensive areas of midfield, to help add balance to the side's new attacking style of play.

This certainly looks like a deal that will be pushed over the line today.
