According to a report in the Daily Mail’s live transfer blog, which was published at 09:51 on 1 February, both Newcastle United and West Bromwich Albion are interested in Everton left-back Bryan Oviedo.
The Costa Rica international has not featured much for the Toffees this season, after slipping down the pecking order.
With Leighton Baines now back to full fitness, and Brendan Galloway looking excellent while covering for the England international, there does not seem to be much of a place for Oviedo in manager Roberto Martinez’s line-up.
Newcastle and West Brom both want to sign a left-back before the close of the transfer window, and they have been alerted to the 25-year-old’s potential availability.
However, Everton have reportedly told the Premier League pair that they will not listen to offers for Oviedo.
Martinez wants to keep him at Goodison Park, just in case of an injury crisis in the months ahead.
It leaves Newcastle and West Brom to look elsewhere for a player to fill the void on the left hand side of their respective defences, with time running out to complete a deal.
