Report: Davide Santon only wants permanent return to Newcastle United

The Inter Milan defender is not keen on a loan deal.

Newcastle United recently missed out on a left-back deal. The Toon made a move for Guilherme Siqueira earlier this week but the deal never happened and the Brazilian headed to Valencia instead.

Now it has been reported that the club might be interested in a move for Davide Santon. The Italian was of course at Newcastle United previously, spending four years with the club, before heading back to Inter Milan in 2015.

The Italian international has now been linked with a return to Tyneside but according to the Chronicle Live he has no intention of going to the club on loan for the season.

They are reporting that the Italian will only be interested in a move back to St James Park if Newcastle are prepared to bring him in on a permanent deal.

The 25-year-old, who can play at both left and right full-back, has struggled to settle in since returning to Inter and Newcastle need cover in the full-back positions.

Whether or not Steve McClaren decides to bring him back or not remains to be seen.
