Report: Aston Villa want £10m for Sunderland-linked Micah Richards

Micah Richards

Villa have reportedly named their price for the skipper.

Aston Villa want £10 million for Micah Richards, according to Sky Sports.

Indeed, Sunderland have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old defender - with Sam Allardyce no doubt targeting experience in a bid to keep the Black Cats up.

Richards can play both at right-back and centre-back and may very well be tempted by the chance to leave the Premier League's bottom side in Aston Villa.

At the Stadium of Light, the Villa captain will naturally enjoy a much greater chance of staying in the top flight next season.

Hence, at 10.42am, the Sky Sports Transfer Centre cited reports from the Sun to suggest Villa have placed the hefty valuation amid interest from Sunderland.

Would a move be a good deal for all parties?

Or will Aston Villa be left weakened by his departure, even if Richards hasn't been in the greatest of form?

Sunderland fans may be worried by the 27-year-old's lack of quality this season but Allardyce has a track record of getting the best out of players - Younes Kaboul is a prime example.
