Aston Villa enquired about former Swansea City midfielder Michu, claim The Sun.
The former Spanish international was released by the Swans earlier this season after struggling with fitness.
He is back playing in the Spanish fourth division with UP Langreo, a side where his brother manages.
His brother is claimed to have been approached by a representative for Villa, only to explain Michu is not interested in a move at this time.
The 29-year-old is still attempting to battle back from his long term ankle injury, and was not interested in a move back to the Premier League, no matter how lucrative.
There remains a possibility he would not have passed a medical so this is not one for Villa fans to get too upset over, considering his lack of quality competitive football over the past two seasons.
A fully fit Michu back to his best would be quite the signing, but Villa will have to wait - and of course may be down in the Championship by time the Spaniard is ready to contemplate his next career move.
Michu scored 22 goals in 43 games for Swansea in the 2012/13 season, helping them win the League Cup.
