HITC Sport understands Aberdeen have made a move for their rivals' midfielder.
Tansey has established himself as a key member of the Inverness side during his second spell at the club after spending two years at Stevenage.
Tansey had left Caledonian Stadium for Stevenage in 2012 before returning to the Scottish highlands in January 2014.
The 27-year-old played a key role in helping the club secure their first major silverware when they won the Scottish Cup.
Tansey has scored seven goals so far this season and most of his strikes are long-range efforts making him one of the best goal-scoring midfielders in the Scottish Premiership.
Aberdeen are keen to lure Tansey away from Inverness as Dons boss Derek McInnes looks to add to his squad before the transfer window shuts.
McInnes sees Tansey as someone who will add something to his side as he looks to maintain their title challenge against Celtic.
Inverness are reluctant to lose Tansey, but Aberdeen are hopeful of bringing the midfielder to Pittodrie before the deadline.
