Patrick Roberts has revealed that Jason Denayer encouraged him to move to Celtic.
Manchester City youngster Roberts signed an 18-month loan deal with Celtic this week, but he sought advice from Denayer before making the switch.
The Belgian international had been on loan at Celtic last season, where he impressed hugely at the heart of their defence.
And the 19-year-old clearly enjoyed his time at Parkhead, as he helped convince Roberts that a move to the Bhoys would aid his development.
Celtic had tried to bring Denayer back to the club at the start of the season, but City decided that loaning him out to Galatasaray would be a better option.
Roberts, meanwhile, has joined the Bhoys to increase their options in forward areas.
Although manager Ronny Deila already has a number of creative players in his squad, the Norwegian boss could not refuse the opportunity to take Roberts on a temporary basis.
The England youth international’s only experience of senior football so far has come while playing for Fulham in the Championship.
