Newcastle fans react on Twitter after Seydou Doumbia's arrival, Cisse comparison made

Newcastle have snapped up striker Seydou Doumbia from Roma.

Newcastle United today confirmed on their official website that they have signed striker Seydou Doumbia on loan from Roma.

Doumbia, 28, became the Magpies' fourth January signing, following Henri Saivet, Jonjo Shelvey and Andros Townsend to St. James' Park in a productive window for manager Steve McClaren.

The Ivory Coast international has had a fascinating career so far, as having made a move to Japan at a young age with Kashiwa Reysol and Tokushima Vortis, Doumbia moved on to Switzerland with Young Boys, and that's where he made his name.

57 goals in 78 games led to a move to CSKA Moscow, where 84 goals in 129 appearances made him one of the most dangerous strikers in Russian football, but after a switch to Roma fell flat with only two goals, Doumbia re-signed for CSKA, and added another 11 goals to his name there this season.

However, Doumbia has now moved on to Newcastle on loan until the end of the season, and fans have been reacting throughout the day since the move was confirmed.

Supporters are pleased to the pacey forward arrive, and believe he can have a similar impact in front of goal as Papiss Cisse did upon his arrival in the 2012 January transfer window.

Others believe that the pressure is immediately on Doumbia to score goals, but are impressed with his record in the Champions League, with most fans happy to see Doumbia sign on the dotted line today.
