Liverpool transfer round-up: Reds still hope for Teixeira, possible Cheryshev loan, Balotelli summer return

A selection of the latest transfer news involving Liverpool Football Club on transfer deadline day.

Liverpool have not given up hope of signing Shakhtar Donetsk's Alex Teixeiraaccording to the Guardian, though after the developments of the past week it does look unlikely.

The Reds offered in the region of £24.6 million for the Brazilian but there have been mixed messages coming from the Ukrainian club, with his coach Mircea Lucescu on one hand saying he is worth £38 million, the Mirror reported, while the club's CEO then said he would only leave in January for his release clause of around £53 million, according to the Guardian and other news outlets.

The Brazilian had made his wishes quite clear in an interview with Anfield HQ saying that he wanted to move to Liverpool, that his agent was trying to secure the deal and that he felt Shakhtar had received a good offer for his services.

Elsewhere, the Mirror are reporting that Liverpool are not prepared go much further than £30 million in order to land the 26-year-old.

The same report says they are to make a loan move for Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev - saying that Anfield is one possible destination for the player as he looks to get some first team football.

The Times reports that AC Milan will not be taking up the option to sign striker Mario Balotelli on a permanent deal. The forward joined the Rossoneri on loan in the summer as it looked as though he didn't have any future at Anfield, but it appears he will return to Merseyside at the end of the season.
