John Terry announced last night he would be leaving Chelsea at the end of the season.
The BBC reported Terry will be released when his contract expires in June, with the defender himself revealing the club had not offered him a new deal.
Terry will be remembered as one of the best centre-backs of his generation, but also the most divisive, due to controversial on and off field actions.
The 35-year-old has already stated his intention not to play for another Premier League side, that has not prevented fans speculating this could be the case.
Surprisingly there were Liverpool supporters who commented on Twitter that they would love to see Terry sign a short term deal with the Reds.
Terry has been a foe for Liverpool for the entirety of his career, winning and losing battles at Anfield and Stamford Bridge.
It may say everything about the club's current defensive woes that a small section of support view Terry as an appealing acquisition.
