Jamie Redknapp says Newcastle have guaranteed survival and have had the best transfer window of any team.
Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ at 8pm, reacting to their deadline day acquisition of Seydou Doumbia, the pundit praised the club's dealings.
Newcastle have brought in Jonjo Shelvey, Henri Saivet, and Andros Townsend before signing Doumbia, and Redknapp believes they will not be relegated.
He said: "Doumbia will get goals, he did great goal for CSKA. They've done enough, they are in the bottom three, but they have pretty much secured their safety.
"They've brought in players with pace, who can score goals, and have had the best window out of everybody."
Jonjo Shelvey has already impressed in action for Newcastle, and their attack will be better off for the changes they have made, while extending Ayoze Perez's contract was another piece of excellent business.
Questions will remain defensively, with McClaren so far unable to bring in a left-back despite attempts to clinch various deals.
Newcastle had also attempted to sign Saido Berahino from West Brom, but the Baggies have refused to sell.
McClaren's side visit Everton in the Premier League on Wednesday, a match which could see Andros Townsend make his debut.
