Ian Wright reacts to Adebayor’s Palace move; highlights worrying danger

Emmanuel Adebayor linked up with Crystal Palace last week.

Speaking to Absolute Radio’s Rock ’N’ Roll Football show, Ian Wright has reacted to Emmanuel Adeabyor’s move to Crystal Palace, which was completed last week.

Wright said: “I think Pardew will get the best out of him at the start, like he [Adebayor] normally does. The problem you have with Ade is that he seems to upset people after a while. The danger with him at Palace is that he upsets a very young dressing room, full of impressionable players.”

Adebayor completed his move to Palace last week, agreeing a deal until the end of the season with the option for a year extension to that contract.

He links up with the Eagles with the reputation as one of the best goalscorers in recent Premier League history, although Adebayor as just as well known for his questionable attitude.

He is known to be a hard player to deal with, and whilst he may score goals in the short-term, any long-term deal brings the risk of him just giving up.

Wright believes that Adebayor will perform excellently at the start, with the 31-year-old proving his goalscoring abilities in the Premier League once again.

However, the striker is sure to ease off after a period of time, and Wright has admitted that the worry with him is that he gets upset.

Further to this, if Adeabyor gets upset, Wright is worried that he will have a negative impact on a very impressionable group of players at Selhurst Park.

One of Palace’s strengths is the character in their squad, and Adebayor could negatively impact this in a few months.

Bringing in Adebayor was always going to be a risky signing, and it remains to be seen how it turns out in the coming months.
