Don Hutchison has taken to social networking site Twitter to urge Newcastle United and Sunderland to make signings on transfer deadline day.
The former Sunderland midfielder has also advised Middlesbrough to bring in someone in today.
Signing players on transfer deadline days is quite common in England, but it is also a sign of panic.
However, for clubs like Newcastle, Sunderland or Middlesbrough, one or two signings could prove to be crucial between now and the end of the season.
The Magpies are third from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment, while Sunderland are a place behind them.
Meanwhile, Middlesbrough are currently second in the Championship table with 55 points from 27 matches, just a point behind leaders Hull City and have a game in hand.
