Leeds United have long been linked with the Norwich City forward and now he has slipped even further down the pecking order.
For much of this transfer window, Leeds United have been linked with a move for Norwich City striker Kyle Lafferty.
As reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post in January, Leeds wanted to sign the Northern Ireland international on loan for the rest of the season, but the Canaries were only interested in sanctioning a permanent move for the 28-year-old.
However, with time running out and Lafferty still on the books at Carrow Road, could a recent addition to Alex Neil’s side prompt a late change of heart that sees Leeds finally get their man?
Norwich clearly felt they needed more fire-power and moved for Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford at the weekend. But the youngster’s loan move only pushes Lafferty further down the pecking order and could be a deal that allows the Canaries to part with the experienced front-man knowing they have sufficient cover.
Bamford will want to prove himself in the top flight and he certainly has the talent to excel under Neil, so what chance Leeds making a deadline day move for Lafferty?
The Whites could certainly do with more striking options and with Euro 2016 fast approaching, Lafferty will want to be as sharp as possible for the summer tournament after excelling during the qualifying campaign.
