The odds are as follows:
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Spurs started the day as outsiders to land Berahino at long last but the market is moving in favour of them getting their man."
Here are three possible explanations...
1) Tottenham fans are betting on Berahino to Spurs due to Alex Pritchard's loan move to West Brom - which could be seen by many as a prospective 'sweetener.'
2) Newcastle have signed Seydou Doumbia on loan so would have a reduced need for Berahino, even if they would still like to sign the 22-year-old in addition.
3) Mark Hughes has insisted Stoke City were told in no uncertain terms that West Brom were not going to sell the young forward.
However, according to the Daily Mail, Tottenham are not expected to do any late transfer business, so the betting odds and the reality could be two separate entities.
At 5.06pm, they posted: "Very quiet at Tottenham at the moment. Staff at the club playing down the chances of a resurrection in the moves for Moussa Dembele and Saido Berahino."
