Arsenal have confirmed that French full back Mathieu Debuchy has left the club, signing for Bordeaux on loan.
He signed for Arsenal from Newcastle United in the summer of 2014 as a replacement for Manchester City bound Bacary Sagna, who he kept out of the World Cup side that summer.
At Arsenal he never really got going, struggling with injuries, and competing for a place with Calum Chambers and Hector Bellerin.
It was the Spaniard who eventually won the three way battle, and received the start in last season's FA Cup Final.
He has continued to impress this season, leaving Debuchy on the outside looking in, and when he has been given opportunities, he has not played well, perhaps anxious to do well.
His desire to move on and play regularly to earn a spot with France at Euro 2016 has been no secret, and just before the deadline he got his desire.
Here is a look at how Arsenal fans reacted to Debuchy moving on...
Best of luck to Debuchy. A series of injuries and the emergence of Hector meant it never really worked out for him. Wish him well. #afc— Super sub (@supersub123) February 1, 2016
